Veteran Friendly Accredited Practice
John Hampden Surgery is proud to be a Veteran Friendly Accredited GP Practice, supporting members of the Armed Forces community and their families.
We understand that military service can have a lasting impact on both physical and mental health. Our team is committed to recognising and supporting the specific healthcare needs of veterans and ensuring they receive the most appropriate care.
Who Is a Veteran?
A veteran is anyone who has served for at least one day in the UK Armed Forces, whether as a regular or reservist.
If you are a veteran, please let us know so we can record this on your medical record and ensure you receive appropriate support where needed.
Support for Veterans
Support Available
Veterans may be able to access additional healthcare and wellbeing support, including:

Mental health and emotional wellbeing services

Support for physical health conditions related to military service

Help adjusting to civilian life

Social and wellbeing support services

Signposting or referral to specialist NHS veteran services

Priority Treatment
Veterans may be entitled to priority NHS treatment for conditions related to their military service, subject to clinical need.
If you believe a health concern may be linked to your service, please discuss this with your GP.
Support for Families and Carers
Support is also available for families and carers of veterans. If you care for someone who has served and would like advice or support, please contact the surgery and we will be happy to help.
Urgent Mental Health Support
If you are struggling and need urgent mental health support, please contact NHS 111 and select the mental health option, or dial 999 in an emergency.
